If you’ve been trying to find a healing school in the UK, look no further.
This is a guide to some of the wonderful training establishments available if you want to hone your healing skills.
I’ve sampled many of them but not all. However, though I have included colleges in this list that I have not personally attended, I’ve only done so when I know their teaching reputation is good.
I can honestly say each healing school in the UK has something special to offer.
You can choose a healing school in the UK for a one-off class or series. Additionally, you may opt for a healing school in the UK that offers residential courses and retreats for total immersion.
Added to the fact that many of these centres are housed in beautiful surroundings, ‘staying over’ can be an exciting adventure away from ordinary life.
Over the years, when I’ve looked for a healing school in the UK, my experiences have been hit and miss.
Therefore, to make it on to this list of healing schools in the UK, top of my priorities are the following factors:
Standard of teaching – Reputation goes a long way and I rate dedicated teachers, who have practical and theoretical knowledge, over and above swish surroundings.
Ethical considerations – Such as non-exploitation of students, or the clientele of students. Added to that, I’m not a fan of the ‘get bums on seats’ approach to filling courses and prefer the college to demonstrate a selection process for their in-depth courses and certifications.
The person at the top – As with all organisations, the values and attitudes of the person at the top trickles down and affects all other aspects. Not only general staff morale but also the way problems are handled and the care of students.
The person at the top has to be motivated by the right reasons. For example, due to a passion for the subject and not due to a desire for prestige or the accumulation of wealth.
Diversity and inclusion – Sadly, some colleges still lag behind the 21st century when it comes to ethnic diversity, and this is a shame. Students on many healing courses are still predominantly white, middle class and female. However – fortunately – this is changing, albeit slowly.
With these factors in mind, here’s my list for anyone considering a healing school in the UK.
This list is in no particular order:
The Healing Trust – Founded in 1954 and the official working name for the National Federation of Spiritual Healers (NFSH). This healing school in the UK offers the fundamentals in energy healing through to advanced and is very well regarded.
High volumes of people attended their introductory course, which may be a bit overwhelming if you are a highly sensitive person like me.
Yet, this healing school in the UK is likely to give you a rounded foundation in the healing arts.

Findhorn Community – Founded in 1962 by spiritual outlier Eileen Caddy, word of this centre spread far and wide in the 1970s due to it’s outlandishly large vegetables! Somehow, the early settlers on this patch of nutrient-poor land managed to create miracles that put Findhord firmly on the global map.
Today, it has a worldwide reputation as one of a superior healing school in the UK.What began as a small caravan (which is still there to this day), is now a thriving and expansive learning centre on multiple sites.
Findhorn Community attracts world class speakers on topics such as mysticism and God. Furthermore, this spiritual centre also hosts opportunities to volunteer as part of the community.
Though some might argue Findhorn has lost some of it’s early charm and become a commercial animal, it still aims to help people connect to them selves, others, spirit and nature – while giving a unique transformational learning experience.
It’s an unusual healing school in the UK because of it’s humble beginnings, plus varied programmes of speakers and courses. Added to that, Findhorn is an attraction because of it’s inclusiveness and community values.
It helps that The Park campus is set in one of Scotland’s most stunning coastlines. If you decide to make the pilgrimage to Findhorn for a healing workshop or retreat, then try to stay at the The Park campus if you can.
Also, recommended for retreating is Iona, which is an island on the south west Scottish coast with ancient celtic roots.

Arthur Findlay College – Located in Stansted Hall, Arthur Findlay College was founded in 1871 and has a long legacy of teaching spiritualism. It runs over 80 courses every year, including platform mediumship and trance healing.
Due to its esteemed history, Arthur Findlay College has developed a solid reputation amongst UK healers and intuitives. Many mediums go there to train and consequently it is considered one of the best healing schools in the UK for mediumship training.
The building is grand and imposing in the Victorian style. If you are not too spooked by the Harry-Potter-esque surroundings, they offer residential trainings at weekends.

The Sacred Trust – This healing school in the UK is a not-for-profit educational organisation offering shamanic trainings and workshops on shamanism from weekends to three-year shamanic practitioner trainings.
There’s something about this healing school in the UK that has an air of awesome mystery about it. The faculty are all highly experienced and learned in the shamanic arts. The Founder, Simon Buxton, trained with and worked at The Foundation For Shamanic Studies in America for many years.
Among others, their experiential courses include Journey to the Midnight Sun, a 10 day encounter group in complete darkness, and the less intense weekend introductory Shaman’s Pathway workshop, hosted by Simon Buxton at the Amadeus Centre in Maida Vale, London.
This college is a super healing school in the UK due to it’s high standards, evident dedication the true roots of shamanism and its experiential delivery of courses.

The College of Intuition and Healing – I trained with Sue Allen the founder of this healing school in the UK, for two years. Therefore, I am slightly biased in my recommendation – I raise my hand!
Nevertheless, one of the things I love about their healing course is that it covers the ethical aspects of healing so well. This is because Sue Allen is a trained psychotherapist, as well as experienced intuitive healer, who ran a busy practice for years and previously worked as a social worker, and supervised the healing clinic at The College of Psychic Studies.
This healing school in the UK has branched out from their British Alliance of Healing Associations (BAHA) accredited two year healing training. That’s to say, they now offer a Spiritual Counselling course too, which combines a more intuitive approach to traditional counselling.

The Quest Institute – This healing school in the UK was recommended by a colleague, hypnotherapist Cathy Simmons, who trained with them 12 years ago.
They offer 10 months of live hypnotherapy trainings in their externally accredited Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma and NLP practitioner qualification.
Cathy says that they are the only healing school in the UK for hypnotherapy that has their own evidence-based (i.e. published) research specific to hypnotherapy.
Their ‘in-house’ funded research project is listed with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
TQI’s research demonstrated the effectiveness of Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy for treatment of anxiety and depression. QCH scored 71% compared with other talk therapies such as CBT (42%) used within the NHS.
A great healing school in the UK for: Ethical hypnotherapy training + alumni (post-course) care.

The College of Psychic Studies – Though it is a number of years since I attended a course at this healing school in the UK, it has a well-established energy healing clinic and such a wide variety of attractions that is worth mentioning.
One of the things I like about this healing school in the UK is its historic atmosphere: it was founded in 1884. Plus, it has a diverse range of introductory courses on offer, along with an eclectic selection of longer courses each term.
Courses include: spirit release, dowsing, tarot, horse healing and crystals, for example.
The college still attracts well-known speakers from the metaphysical field, including authors and celebrity platform mediums.
Added to that, a platform medium’s evening event or a lecture at this healing school in the UK can be a stimulating and unusual night out.

Above is a summary of some of the learning centres I sampled when I needed a healing school in the UK.
Additionally – though it’s not strictly a healing school in the UK because it doesn’t have a bricks and mortar location – I feel I should include Theta Healing™ Institute of Knowledge in this summary.
This is because there are many Theta Healing™ Teachers in the UK, however they hire venues to teach this modality over a weekend.
I’m a big fan of Theta Healing™. If you can find a good, ethical healing teacher – i.e. someone who’s teaching healing for the right reasons – then it’s possible you will fall in love with Theta Healing™ too!
Recommended teachers are: Pippa King.
