What to do when you are feeling stuck in life, love or career…
14th November 2021
We’ve all had those times when we’re sat in the waiting room of life.
Feeling stuck because something we badly need or want is not happening.
It could be a:
- Job offer
- New relationship
- Financial relief
- Legal documents
- Moving house
In these instances, I’ve noticed how psychic readings feel ‘blocked’ too.
The messages do not flow. It is fragmented.
To unblock, the person who I am reading for must make inner changes or take practical action.
For example, switching mindset or stopping sabotaging behaviour. Or making adjustments to their belongings or surroundings.
When you are feeling stuck in life, what can you do?
The good news is that YOU CAN shift the energies + get things moving.
Below, I share simple ways you can transform the energies around you.
When you feel stuck, start to transform your situation by making simple, practical changes.
This is a breakdown of things that influence circumstances.
Even when they are seemingly out of your control.
When you are feeling stuck – Clear + De-clutter
Decluttering is ideal for autumn or spring. It mirrors the falling + clearing of leaves in nature, or the idea of a ‘Spring clean’ ready to usher in new life.
Use the time while you are feeling stuck + standing still, to pay attention to hidden or neglected corners of your home.
Sort out your physical belongings. Tidy up + get organised. Let go of objects that don’t ‘spark joy’ (Mari Kondo).
If the task of de-cluttering feels overwhelming:
Start small – tackle one corner or area at a time
Set a time limit – Do an hour at a time, with breaks. After one or two starts you will gain momentum + motivation.
Create accountability – tell someone what you are doing and ask them to enquire about your progress.
Take before + after photos – To help you track + celebrate your progress. Send to your accountability buddy!
Manufacture motivation – Choose someone whose opinion matters to you: a neighbour, relative, co-worker. Invite them over your house and set a date. You will want your space to look it’s best. If you need help with motivation, this artificial deadline will help you to become unstuck.
When you are feeling stuck – Feng Shui Your Home
The Western School of Feng divides your living space in 9 sections, based on the position of your front door.
If you have been feeling stuck in life, love or career, work out where the relevant area is in your home.
Rejuvenate this area with plants, flowers, decorations, paintings, photos, ornaments, or colourful fabrics. For example, refresh your ‘helpful people + travel’ area to get unstuck and increase opportunities in this area of life.
Cleaning – In Feng Shui, your windows are your ‘windows on the world‘.
Therefore, if you want to stop feeling stuck in life, start by cleaning your windows. This will help to clear confusion and bring more clarity.
Equally, make sure that your front door / front entrance is clean, warm + welcoming.
In 2014, I completely redecorated the entrance to my ground floor apartment in central London. I cleaned and painted the corridors, steps and railings. I planted huge pots full of luscious plants.
Shortly afterwards, we were able to take our first steps towards living abroad in a way that felt easy + manageable. A clean + welcoming front door / entrance invites in opportunities!
When you are feeling stuck – Be Grateful
Practice appreciating what you already have, at least once a day. Try to adopt a state of love + gratitude.
If you don’t give thanks for all that you already have, why should the universe bring you more of it?
Before bedtime, write down 5 things you are grateful for about your present situation. This will help release inner tension, ready for dream time.
When you are feeling stuck in life – Act ‘As If’
If you want to manifest a change of location, get your existing space ready for travel / moving.
Literally pack your suitcase, donate unwanted thing to charity, give away your plants + finalise the logistics of how to make the move.
If you want a lover, be honest with yourself:
- What’s your bedroom + bathroom like?
- Is is inviting, warm, cosy, clean + romantic?
- Or is it stuffed with old things, tired or messy looking?
- What’s your underwear like?
- What’s the passageway from your front door to the bedroom like?
- Inviting or off-putting?
All these things count.
If Brad Pitt (or your equivalent) called round, how would you feel about bringing him / her / them into your personal space?
If you got that job offer, are you all packed up + ready to leave at a moments notice?
Luck is only preparation meeting opportunity.
Do the prep and soon you won’t be feeling stuck in life, love or career.
When you are feeling stuck – Diversify
Line up more than one option – If you are waiting for your first choice job / partner / offer to come through, don’t rest on your laurels.
You may feel tired + unmotivated to open up even more possibilities, but pinning all your hopes on just one thing can push what you want further away.
Instead of waiting around + thinking about what you haven’t yet got, make the effort to see what else is out there.
When people first start experimenting with manifestation techniques, they can get surprisingly quick results. Unfortunately this can mean that they settle, rather than see what else they could materialise.
If that great person hasn’t messaged you back, put your energy onto other things.
By withdrawing your focus, you give the other person a chance to miss you. This can also give them motivation to ‘fill the vacuum’ by reaching out.
Likewise, if you didn’t hear about that promotion you wanted, start looking what other job opportunities are out there.
Create a wish board around it (below) and spread the energetic load onto new possibilities.
This does require mental effort. However, if you want something or someone too much, it’s like swimming towards a floating ball. The more you try to get close to it, the further your actions push it away.
Instead, get out of the water (emotions) and put energy / intention into new directions. You’ll see that ‘ball’ floating back into your life (if it is meant to be).
When you are feeling stuck – Make Space
Some people who complain about not meeting anyone, have such a busy life of prior commitments, they don’t have any energetic space in their life.
Even though they think they are ‘ready’, their life is organised in such a way that ‘the message’ they are sending out says otherwise.
Practice saying no, putting down unwanted duties, streamlining social commitments + creating more downtime. You can’t share what you haven’t got.
For some, this may mean becoming more comfortable + content with your own company.
Instead of feeling bored or dissatisfied by an evening at home alone, what can you do that would be fun or give you a sense of achievement?
Conversely, if you are not used to sharing your home or space, you may need practice.
If you have got very comfortable in closing the door on the outside world, you may be wearing an invisible, but effective ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign.
This can discourage or even frighten off potential friends or partners.
How can you practice sharing your space and belongings? Find ways that feel safe + manageable to you.
If you don’t want to share your physical space, time or belongings, this can block new people from sharing your life.
When you are feeling stuck – Cut Cords
When we think wistfully about past relationships, we send out the signal to the universe that we are still energetically tied up.
Unconsciously, people pick up on these vibes and this means that opportunities to connect with new potential partners are non-existent.
Sentimentality is usually the mind’s way of processing fear about the future.
Affirm to yourself that it’s safe to let go of the past and hold out for something better.
Put your imagination to good use with a cord cutting mediation.
Remember to call back soul fragments from powerful connections: set the intent at Source energy, witness the fragments from their heart + being cleansed in creator’s light before returning to yours. Set the intention and do the same in reverse.
Call in a guardian angel to take care of them as they are released so that you can put down any responsibility you feel for them.
Try the cord cutting meditation.
When you’re feeling stuck – Use Your Imagination
Tap into your creativity + intuition: make a wish board – or at the minimum a written list.
Try to not to put limits on what the universe can bring to you.
Don’t ask for a specific person or job, but instead make the following examples part of your vision.
When you feel stuck in love / relationships / friendships
Get clear on:
- How will they make you feel
- What values will you share
- What experiences can you enjoy together
- What kind of person are they: their emotional make-up
- What will they appreciate about you
- What kind of lifestyle they will have
- How you are similar
- When + where would you see them
- Where would they live
- Stage of life they are in
- What are the the qualities your appreciate most in your existing relationships? Write a list and ask the Universe to bring you more of that.
- Identify what do you ‘need’ as opposed to what you ‘want’. This is important. For example, you may want to meet an Angelina Jolie look-alike, whereas what you need is actually someone consistent, reliable, honest + with a good heart. Other examples of needs might be: physically affectionate, financially independent, or similiar sense of humour.
When you feel stuck in Your Job / Career
Get clear on what you really need / desire:
- What kind of work
- What skills will you be using developing
- What kind of location + type of building
- Working conditions
- What is the work culture like
- What kind of people you want to work with
- The personality of your boss + other superiors
- Ideal salary
- How much responsibility
- Will you have assistance / a team, or do you dislike managing people?
- The length / type of commute, if any
- Perks: Flexible hours? Part time? Working from home? Holidays? Dress code? Bonuses? Healthcare?
When you feel stuck in life – Take a Break
If you’re been fretting over something or trying to ‘work things out’ by thinking or analysis, give the universe a chance to work it’s magic.
Go for a walk, do a manual task, dance, go outside, visit somewhere unusual, do something you wouldn’t normally do. Get out of your head.
Walking peacefully in nature gives your super-computer brain a chance to serve up solutions.
Equally, your situation may feel very different, from a new perspective.
When you are feeling stuck – Celebrate Yourself
Don’t withhold from yourself. Look in the mirror and give yourself positive affirmations + encouragement on a daily basis. Know that your situation – however bad or difficult – does not define you. You are NOT a failure.
Learn to treat yourself with compassion.
When you feel stuck or blocked, it’s important to claw back a sense of control.
Taking practical action – to shift your own energy + the energy of your space, helps to lift mental blocks and depression.
Rather than feeling powerless, stuck and unmotivated, take charge of the things you have control over.
As well as attitude and the thoughts you think, there is a link between your own energy and the physical space your occupy.
Knowing that even small actions count, brings back a sense of autonomy + movement you crave.
If you’ve been feeling stuck and depressed, it’s like you are banging your head against a brick wall.
You can’t think your way out of feeling stuck in life or love.
Focus on these practical things instead, and you will notice your mood shift.
Energy follows attention. Mood follows action. Therefore, the more you take actions to control your environment and belongings, the more motivation + empowered feelings you will have.
If you don’t take action – to prepare yourself + your space / belongings, you may not truly be ready for the changes you want to materialise.
